What are Containment Systems
Containment systems are comprised of a radio transmitter which is connected to wire running around the boundary of the area you wish to keep the dog within. The dog wears a radio receiving collar that “detects’ when the dog has gone too close to the boundary (wire). The dog will then hear a warning tone and if that is ignored will receive a mild static correction from the collar.
The systems require training the dog to recognize where the boundary is and what direction to head towards when they hear the warning tone or perceive the static correction. This should take about 10 minutes a day over about 10 days.
How are Containment Systems Installed
Petsafe containment systems are designed to be a self install and train system and come with a detailed instruction and training guide. Any handy man can install the system in a few short hours and certainly a lot quicker than a fixed fence!
· The radio transmitter should be installed near a 240 volt power point and undercover.
· The insulated copper wire is than strung in a continuous loop around the area planned for containment and plugged into the transmitter
· The wiring should be attached to a fence if one exists or sunk into the ground a few centimeters if going over open ground ( to avoid breaking or cutting it).
· Turn the power on and the collar on, adjust the distance from the boundary by listening listening to the collar beeps….very simple!!!
· You are really only limited by your imagination, as to the type of area you can create !!!!
